Kind attention: Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra
Damodardas Modi,
Water scarcity is no longer merely an environmental issue—it is a serious threat to India’s economic growth, food security and national security. India receives enormous quantities of freshwater through rainfall and river systems, yet a substantial volume ultimately flows into the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea without being effectively conserved or used for groundwater recharge. This continuing loss of a precious national resource cannot be accepted as inevitable.
Several countries have addressed similar challenges through groundwater-recharge technologies. India must urgently examine the large-scale application of River Water Recharge Well Technology—a potentially fast, economical and scalable method of capturing available river water and
replenishing depleted underground aquifers. If technically validated and implemented on a national scale, this approach could make a major contribution towards making India water-secure without requiring the enormous expenditure and long implementation periods associated with conventional mega-projects.
The concept, technology, international applications and supporting research have been documented and presented by Macro-Economist CA
Anil K. Jain. Giving top priority, the Government of India should constitute an expert technical team to evaluate this proposal on an urgent basis and, if validated, initiate pilot implementation without delay.
India cannot afford years of discussion while groundwater levels continue to decline and enormous quantities of freshwater remain inadequately conserved. The technology exists. The opportunity exists. What India needs now is decisive action.
